We went through many changes since March this year.

Relocated, expecting bb no2, changed jobs... Etc. It took about 2 1/2 months to settle in... But the whole process started since September last year.

It's not easy but it's for the better... Constructive & progressive.

Another change will come soon when I pop in October... By then, Sophie (below) will be 1 1/2 yr old when she welcome her little brother to the family.

November 09 have been an eventful month for me... Birthday, Earth Angels called back to God (passing of friends and family member), more changes to the body, changes at work/workmates, meeting of milestones, friends get together, departures etc.

I did a nuchal scan... I see the little shape of my baby... with the limbs and fingers, kicking and moving in my womb.... the last scan about a month ago was just a blob of dark circle.

This afternoon, a friend told me that a beautiful friend of ours was summoned to go back to God....

I needed an Angel today ... hence I made one... a little Angel Dachshund doggie. Thank you again, Mabel!

The Other End Of The Leash

This is another must have by Patricia Mc Connell. I am at the beginning chapters and now I know that dogs have been observing us i.e. body language, gestures, facial expressions etc as the tool of communication. I love her books as it gives the insight of what we do which sends different messages to our dogs esp during trainings. Also, all her books and methods emphasize positive reinforcement and a true understanding of how dogs think and learn.

You can see it in a typical situation during a doggie training sessions (for me, at Badri's class at Pet Safari (PLC) at Ikano Power Centre) - the frustration of the dog owner when giving commands and the poor doggie does nothing being totally confused. Being frustrated, the dog owner will blame the dog as unc0operative. However then the trainer takes over, the doggie executes everything flawlessly. Why? It is how we communicate with our dogs through our body.

These training classes though called doggie training/obedience classes, it is actually classes for dog owners to learn to communicate with their dogs and build that communication and relationship between the dog and the pet owner.

I don't believe in sending my pet to an obedient school for 3 months and get him/her back thereafter. I wouldn't do that to my kids.

In my opinion, Badri is a benevolent leader, dogs loves him and they are more than happy to do whatever Badri wants them to... c.f. a dominant leader i.e. instill orders via force/fear/punishment, hence the relationship between the dogs and the trainer is based on fear, pain, anger etc. What kind of leader do you choose to be? What kind of leader do your pet wants to follow?

My Pledge for World Animal Day (WAD)

I have posted this earlier, about World Animal Day. However, WAD celebration started early for me as I was scheduled for a surgery in mid-Sept, I knew I would be out of commission for at least 3 to 8 weeks.

Hence, for 2009, WAD started early and runs till end of Oct for Animalerie & Pawtisserie. List of project done/work in progress are:-

1. Baked 800 doggie cookies for Dogathon 09 on 16 August 2009 (Purpose of the event amongst others, to raise funds to be channeled to the welfare project called “Pro-Kasih”; which will be organised by the Veterinary Medicine Students for better welfare of stray animals • to campaign against animal cruelty)

2. Baked 500 Pink Teddys and individually-double-wrapped with newspaper for The No Plastic Bag Bazaar on 31 August 2009 (all proceeds to be donated to Malaysian Nature Society and FurryFriendsFarm)

3. Baking 200 poodle cut-out cookies for The Raw Truth on 31 October 09, since the Malaysian Addiction Pet Foods distributor ie Abco Asia Sdn Bhd's pet is Whiskey... their little poodle boy.

4. Whole of October 09, in celebration of WAD, all birthday cakes from Pawtisserie, The Pet Bakery are at 30% discount.

5. Contemplating to participate a bazaar on 7 Nov 09 to raise funds for FurryFriendsFarm. I dont intend to sell but to give out cookies again. It's nice to give and chat up with different walks of life...

With only power strength of 3 or 4 hours and requires food/meds/nausea/vomit/naps in between, this is what I could do thus far.

For 2010, I hope to achieve more.

Tea & Sebastien the Maltese Siblings: You are 3 today!

It has been almost 2 1/2 weeks since I am out of commission... due to health reason. However, I couldn't resist whipping up something for my 2 Maltese, Tea (L) and Sebastien (R). Nothing too heavy as the stitches may break.... just a simple cake and decoration.

Sebastien and Tea was a little hesitant to eat the cake initially... maybe I made them do the sit-stay for the picture. Meanwhile, Heidi was like a charging bull with a single target. Had to put Heidi on the time-out chair to have a Kodak shot of the siblings with their birthday cake.

Then, I removed the blue flower and cut the cakes up into smaller pieces... that's when the CHOMP CHOMP starts. Sebastien's cake lasted for 2 minutes... while Tea took the largest piece, find a comfy spot, lay down, placed the cake in front of her, posed and wait..... When the other 3 finished their cakes and starring at Tea's piece... Tea then eat her cake slowly..... With all 3 of them watching... drooling.

Early morning, when the vendors were busy setting up their stalls

We arrived early that Merdeka Day (Malaysia's Independence Day)morning and set up our "stall"quickly. Love the experience... giving out free cookies, talking to different people, surrounded by smiles from strangers (even when they politely refused to take the cookies... and apologised for not having pets) it was fun and exciting. It's good to see so many people who actually care... people that wears many hats, living their dreams and walk the talk. Very glad to be part of it. Many thanks to JL of The Recyclists for the invitation to be part of the event.

We gave out all 500 packs of cookies that day. YAY!

It's done! Cling wrapped (tried tissues or wax paper, but the ink smell from the newspapers gets to the cookies) and individually packed in newspapers envelope. Many thanks to my H and MIL for helping me.

Found some huge glass jars from Robinsons this afternoon to store cookies... and also a glass cake holder and a transparent bread/cake holder for my fondant... some nice imprint cookie cutter (a fairy and unicorn), cookie press.... impulsive splurge. My consolation, I need them and I love all of it!

Pictures of the Dogathon 09 Event...

It was a very warm day. Very good turn out... better than last year. I am glad that I was there despite that I felt sick... like I was ran over by a 18 wheeler truck. Best thing is... 800 packs of cookies were given out and had a great time with close friends. Also, molested some doggies. Can't wait for Dogathon 2010!

The theme for this year 2009 is “CARNIVALE CANINE-Tails Up...It's Show Time!!!”. Participants are asked to to dress their furkids in funny clown costumes and have a fun parade.

OBJECTIVES

1. To raise funds to be channeled to the welfare project called “Pro-Kasih”; which will be organised by the Veterinary Medicine Students for better welfare of stray animals • to campaign against animal cruelty

2. To hold an Absolutely Doggy Day • by organising a fun-filled day for the dogs, canine-lovers and kids • by enabling dog lovers to gather together, meet and socialize

3. To increase public awareness regarding the professional field which is involved with pet animals and to promote the knowledge about the veterinary profession

4.To create a platform to educate the responsibility of dog ownership as well as the pleasure of owning a dog

Thank you Stan for inviting The Pet Bakery, Pawtisserie to throw in some 800 packets of brewer's yeast cookies in the Dogathon 2009 goodie bags for the 300 volunteers and the estimated 500 participants.

VL request for a furkid birthday cake... Recca... a westie boy. A future mate of Heidi. Heard a lot bout Recca from a common friend... that he is angelic. Made a pair of tiny gold wings for the westie fondant... will think of making the halo one day.

I love this book! Help me to understand my 4 furkids and handle them better. Especially Tea and Sebastien... this dynamic duo albino siblings are from a typical puppy farm/mill... or just suffering from the middle child syndrome. Love them to bits and to give them a lot of assurance. Sometimes I wished they can turn into Lycans to protect me. : ) This book help me to correct tricky situations, diffuse conflict etc. Must read.

Finally... a blog. Naming the blog is challenge for me... below are the list of possibilities

Hallo! Bonjour, mon amour! (Hello! Good morning, my love!) - I love anything French and this is one cheerful and chirpy morning greeting... a great start for the day.

The Ballet Slipper - Yes I love ballet... however dropped out when I was about 5 years old... I was the hippopotamus in the class. My mom will find other parents giggling and having their face plastered at the tiny glass window of the class door when it's my turn to do the Pirouettes etc. I'll be wobbling all over but I was extremely confident and loved every minute of it!

PLC (P.L.C. ie Peng Leng Cheng a.k.a. Affordable, Tasty and Nice in Cantonese... food, clothes, furniture etc etc. Trust me, I tried and worked... I did survive with only using 20 bucks for food and travelling (trains) for 4 years to save for studio of my own.

I choose Pawtisserie. My love for dogs and baking is my hobby.... oh yea... point to note to someone, cakes and cookies... are fun... they are like blank canvases for you to do whatever you want *wink* with it. There is no limit to imagination and creativity!
